Richard Bernard Samson, 83, of Ludell, KS, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at his home in Ludell Township, Rawlins County, KS.
Richard was born July 10, 1939, in Union Township, to Adrian F. and
Tressie B. (Flood) Samson. Richard’s life began on his aunt’s farm, East
of Atwood. The family moved to the farm East of Ludell, in 1941, when
he was two. Richard spent the remainder of his life on the farm he loved
so dearly.
Richard graduated from Atwood High School with the class of 1957. He was
a farmer, rancher, and Archer oil salesman. Richard married Bernadine
L. Hale on August 7, 1968. After her passing, Richard married Bonnie S.
Jeffries on January 26, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bernadine, in 2010;
his wife, Bonnie, in 2021; sister Frances Carpenter, in 2011, and
nephews, James D. Cogburn II, in 2010, and Adrian Carpenter, in 2022.
Richard is survived by his son, Jamie Samson (Sara Bishop); daughters,
Barbara Steiner (Les) and Beverly Evans (Mark Ramser); sister, Shirley
Cogburn (James); grandchildren; great grandchildren; five nieces; great
nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:30
a.m., Friday, November 11, 2022, at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood, with
Pastor Dan Carson officiating. Interment is at Rose Hill Cemetery,
Ludell, KS.
