Duane James Fischer, age 65, passed away at his home on September 1, 2023. He was born to Richard and Elaine Fischer on September 2, 1957 in Curtis Nebraska.
Duane graduated from Medicine Valley High School in 1975 where he excelled in sports and held several school records. One of his favorite memories was of his dad coaching and playing catch throughout the day.
After graduation, Duane attended carpentry school in North Platte, NE.
He married Joyce Joylea Hazen on March 12, 1978. They celebrated their 45th anniversary this year. They had three children from this union; Rikki, Crystal and Shine.
Duane and the family enjoyed coyote hunting, raising greyhounds and coyote hounds.
Duane worked construction in Curtis, NE for several years, before moving to Kansas in 1988 with his family to take a position at Norton Department of Corrections in the maintenance and activities departments before retiring in 2022. Duane built two family homes in Kansas.
In recent years, Duane enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, gardening, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Duane was proceeded in death by his parents, Richard and Elaine Fischer.
Duane is survived by his wife, Joyce of Norton, KS; his sister Pamela Gay Anderson of Lincoln, NE; his daughter Rikki Renee Wait and her husband RD of Norton, KS; his daughter Crystal Marie Fischer and her fiancé Nolan Younce of Conway Springs, KS; his son Shine RichardDale Fischer and wife Erinn of Hyderabad, India. He is survived by his grandchildren, Rayanne Emily Wait, Kira Marie Forrest, Alise Joylea Wait, Cody Duane Wait, Jessi Jean Wait, Hunter Lee Fyler, Oakley Elizabeth Fischer, and Finley Kay Fischer. He leaves behind numerous relatives and friends.
Duane will be cremated and a family service will be held at a later time. Arrangements by: Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home, Norton, KS.
