Gerald C. “Jerry” Kreutzer, 87, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed, La Crosse, Kansas.
Jerry was born March 21, 1935, in Liebenthal, Kansas, the son of Marcus and Cecilia (Legleiter) Kreutzer. He was a lifelong Rush County, Kansas, resident. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Liebenthal, Kansas, and Schoenchen High School, Schoenchen, Kansas.
Over the years, Jerry worked for John Weitzel Manufacturing; Phillip Weitzel; Jim’s Champlin Service Station (Jim Herrman); Humburg’s; and the Rush County Nursing Home, all of La Crosse, Kansas.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.
Jerry enjoyed being outdoors. Gardening, and mowing his yard were his favorite outdoor pastimes. He also enjoyed reading.
On May 25, 1959, he married Neoma Spicka at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken, Kansas.
Survivors include: his wife, Neoma Kreutzer, La Crosse, Kansas; his son, Thomas “Tom” Kreutzer, La Crosse, Kansas; his granddaughter, Alisha Kreutzer, La Crosse, Kansas; his sister, Mary Virginia Schaffer, New Mexico; and his buddy, Sparky, his dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Timothy “Tim” Kreutzer; one brother, Francis Kreutzer; three sisters, Rose Zimmer, Melezina Allen, and Bernadette Augustine; and one infant sister, Mary Virginia Kreutzer.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M.
Visitation will also be Monday, September 12, 2022, from 9:00 A.M. to 9:50 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.
Funeral service will be Monday, September 12, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, with Father Stephen Dabanka officiating. Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family request memorials to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, or Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed, La Crosse, Kansas.
