Matthew Lee Pelkey, 37, of Norton, KS passed away October 10, 2022, at his home. He was born April 4, 1985, in Colby, KS to Melvin Kent and Rebecca J. (Weber) Pelkey.
Matthew grew up in the Atwood and Ludell areas. He attended Herndon schools and later received his GED. He worked as a mechanic and one of his hobbies was remote control cars. Matthew loved his big red truck, but more than anything he loved his kids and family. He had a heart of gold.
Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents: Darrell and Deanie Weber, Truman “Butch” Pelkey, and Deanna McDougal. He is survived by his mother, Rebecca Morton of Norton; father, Melvin (Deanna) Pelkey of Herndon, KS; stepmother, Stephanie Pelkey of Atwood; daughters, RayeAnn and Maeve Pelkey; stepson, Landon; sisters, April (Rob) Fair of Newbern, NC and Megan (Ryan) Marvin of Atwood, KS; brother, Jasen (Lacy) Pelkey of Emporia, KS; nieces and nephews: Eli and Emma Pelkey, Ana, Lily, Evelyn, and Catherine Fair, and Treigh Marvin, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members and friends.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 10:30 am at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin, KS.
