 Melvin F. Wolf, 86, of Grinnell, died Wednesday, August 16, 2023, in Hays, KS. He was born March 6, 1937, in Gove County, KS, to Frederick and Mary (Meerian) Wolf.

Melvin married Marlene Kaiser on November 8, 1958, in Park, KS.

Melvin was a farmer and rancher. In his younger years, he enjoyed showing Charolais cattle with his wife Marlene. Melvin also worked for the City of Grinnell until his retirement and was on the Grinnell Fire Department.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Grinnell and the Knights of Columbus.

In his free time, he liked playing cards, watching baseball, fishing and woodworking. Melvin never knew a stranger. He loved Sunday steak dinners at Steve’s, nightly chats with his daughter Pat and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marlene; daughter-in-law Brenda Wolf; granddaughter Ashley Wolf; siblings Jim (Elsie) Wolf, Mary Jean (Alan) Overton and Leon Wolf; brother-in-law Jerry Kaiser and sister-in-law Jennie Wolf.

Melvin is survived by his five children, Rick (Marcie) Wolf, Pat (Dave) Farris, Steve Wolf, Tony (Judy) Wolf and Melanie (JR) Slayton; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings Luetta Kaiser, Richard (Karen) Wolf, Daryl Wolf, Bernice (Mark) Rueschhoff and Dwayne (Linda Wolf) and sister-in-law Lynette Wolf.

The family will receive friends from 5-6:00 p.m., with a vigil at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center, Grinnell. Memorial Mass is 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2023, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Grinnell, with burial in the church cemetery.
