Norma Dorothea Anna (Hestermann) Wegener, daughter of Henry and Emma (Niermeier) Hestermann, was born February 1, 1924, in Ludell, KS and passed away at Norton County Hospital on May 3, 2023 at the age of 99.

Norma grew up on a farm outside of Ludell, KS.

On August 27, 1944, Norma D. Hestermann and Donald E. Wegener were united in marriage at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ludell, Kansas. Upon Donald’s discharge from the Army, they made their home on a farm northwest of Norton where they farmed and raised their family.

She was a devoted farm wife and mother. She was a 4-H member growing up and a member of the Lutheran Women’s group in her adult years.

Norma was baptized on February 13, 1924 and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church on April 10, 1938.

She attended the Immanuel Lutheran School at Ludell and graduated from Atwood High School in 1942.

She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for many years were she played the organ for many of those years. Later in life she became an active member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Norton, KS.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing and quilting of which she was very accomplished at.

Survivors include four children, Barbara Stutz and friend Dennis Amstuz, Axtell and Minden, NE; Bruce and wife Cindy Wegener, Norton, KS; Glenda Wegener, Densmore, KS; and Sandra and husband Harvey Pakkebier, Densmore, KS; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and many other relatives and friends.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband Donald Wegener; parents Henry and Emma; daughter Connie and husband Wayne Dobesh; grandson Wyatt Whitney Wegener, stillborn son of Bruce and Cindy; four sisters and seven brothers and numerous in-laws.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Norton. Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church and sent in care of Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home, 215 West Main St. Norton, KS 67654. A private family burial was held at the Norton Cemetery on May 5, 2023.
