Scottsdale, Arizona resident, Philip “Phil” David Kastle was born January 1, 1960, to Richard and Marcella (Fink) Kastle, in Phillipsburg, KS.  He passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at the HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center in Scottsdale, AZ, at the age of 63.

He attended schools in Phillipsburg, graduating with the class of 1978, before going on to Fort Hays State University.  During the summers he drove a truck for TAMKO and Haliburton.  He then went on to Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS, and received his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.  He was a proud member of the K-State Alumni Association.  He later moved to Scottsdale, AZ, and received his master's from Arizona State University, W.P. Carey School of Business in 1990.

Philip was a very focused and dedicated person, who took pride in his responsibilities as the Director of Business Transformation at American Express for many years.  He was assigned to the Rome office for five years, where he oversaw 25 international markets, including the United States of America.  Philip also successfully managed American Express through the transition into the year 2000, by determining the appropriate risk mitigation activities, and managing completion of over 1,000 risk mitigation projects globally.  He was also a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and created the Business Transformation and Six Sigma programs for 25 international Markets and trained Green and Black belts at American Express.  He had a quality of integrity and leadership which were evident in his accomplishments.

He was a caring, reserved, and disciplined person, who lived a full, meaningful life.  He traveled the world, experienced and celebrated various cultures and enjoyed the cuisines.  He was a dedicated Catholic, who attended mass every Sunday, and a philanthropist supporting the American Cancer Society and Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services.  

Philip was, most importantly, an avid golfer, and claimed numerous trophies representing his winnings.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Marcella; grandparents Albert and Hazel (Silkett) Fink and Fred and Mary (Wickwar) Kastle; and his beloved dog, Siena, whom he loved with all his heart.

Survivors include his brother Jeffrey Kastle and wife Kathy of Kirwin, KS; nephews Jevon Kastle and wife Jenny of Phillipsburg, KS and Michael Kastle of Hays, KS; and his longtime companion Lolita Prescod of Scottsdale, AZ; as well as many other heartbroken family members and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023 in the Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg with Father John Schmeidler.  The services will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page.  Burial will follow in the Bogart Cemetery, Kirwin, KS.

Philip will lie in state from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday with the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
