Lila Jean Leitner, 89, died on April 8, 2023, at Linden Court Retirement Home in North Platte, NE. She was born on August 4, 1933, to Herman and Luella Solko. She attended the Walsh Country School before moving to Trenton, Nebraska. Lila was united in marriage to Robert J. Leitner on March 29, 1951.
Lila was a member of the Christian Mother’s Altar Society in Herndon, Kansas. She worked various jobs throughout her life, including Pooch’s Egg Produce, Allacher Drapery, Herndon Bank and Herndon Insurance Agency, plus working alongside her husband on the farm and Leitner Oil Company.
Lila enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and
playing Pinochle. What she truly enjoyed was her grandchildren, whom she
loved very much.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years; her parents;
brother Robert Solko; and brothers-in-law, Robert Horinek and Andy
Anderson.
Survivors include her six children, Linda (Albin) Ruzicka, Stratton, NE,
Roger (Bonnie), St. Augustine, FL, Sam, Arvada, CO, Connie (Robert)
Herzog, Peoria, AZ, Mary (Ray) Carlson, North Platte, NE, and David
(Kathy), Atwood, KS; her twelve much loved grandchildren and eleven
great-grandchildren; and sisters, Betty Horinek and Shirley Anderson.
Visitation is 6-7:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 12,
2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Herndon. The Funeral Mass will be
at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church,
Herndon, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
