Charles A. “Chuck” Anderson, 71, passed peacefully from this life, Friday January 12, 2024 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born October 25, 1952 in Colby, Kansas; the son of Marvin and Mabel (Momeyer) Anderson.
He grew up on his family farm, attended Colby schools and graduated in 1970. He married Kathy (Murray) Johnmeyer April 15, 1972 and from this union two children were born. Chuck enjoyed watching his grandkids sports activities, golfing, fishing, riding his motorcycle and socializing with his friends at JAX Sports Bar.
He spent almost 40 years of his life working in the Oil and Gas field. First working for ARCO, then Vastar Resources and finally BP where he retired as a Team Leader. Dedication to his work and his family caused him to move around a lot throughout his career. He lived in Plainville Kansas, McPherson Kansas, Cushing Oklahoma, Wilburton Oklahoma, Johnson Kansas, Ulysses Kansas and Farmington New Mexico. After retiring 7 years ago, he moved from New Mexico to Garden City to be close to his family.
Survivors include his daughter Stacy and husband JW Tancayo of Garden City, Kansas; daughter-in-law Ashley Anderson of Jonesboro, Arkansas; grandchildren- Jerek Tancayo, Brooks Tancayo, Elly Jo “EJ” Tancayo, Brayden Anderson, and Lily Anderson; one brother John Anderson of Colby, Kansas and one sister Laurie and husband Duane Schlitter of College Station, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son Brock Anderson. Chuck was a great Dad, Grandpa and friend and will be missed dearly until we are all united again in Heaven.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday January 18, 2024 at Pierceville Federated Church in Pierceville, Kansas with Pastor Mike Macwhinnie presiding.
