Mariquita S. Fry passed away peacefully in the arms of her daughter Pauline, surrounded by James, James L. and Jonathan Tapia at her home in Romeroville, NM on November 18, 2022.
Mariquita lived most of her life in Kansas, where she enjoyed working in her garden. She enjoyed fishing, embroidery, crochet, hunting, and tea parties with her church family.
She worked for Department of Health as a translator, in Kinsley, KS, and CNA for Parkview Manor in Macksville, KS. She enjoyed traveling. Most memorable was her trip to Disneyland, view of the ocean and collecting seashells, and enjoying a St. Louis Cardinals game.
She was born in Ojito Frios, NM to the late Adelaido Salas and Marta Tenorio on February 25, 1932. She is preceded in death by sons Felipe and Joe B. Baca, grandson Michael Baca and great-grandson Brendan Graber.
She is survived by her daughter Pauline Tapia (James) of Romeroville, NM, Nash Baca (Margie) of Dodge City, KS, daughter Lucy Baca (Faustino) of Hernandez, NM, Mary McClurg (Charlie) of Hays, KS, daughter Lisa Jo of Boston, MA, son Johnny Baca of Austin, TX, son Greg Baca (Brittany) of Salina, KS. 19 grandchildren, granddaughter she raised Tonie Graber (Mark) of Pratt, KS, 24 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren. Step-sons Randy and Jerry Fry of Kansas, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The Family would like to thank the Amber care and their caring staff. They also want to thank her friends and the staff at Meadows long term facility.
Rosary will be recited on Tuesday November 29, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM.
Funeral Mass will be conducted on Wednesday November 30, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM with Father Rob Yaksich as Celebrant.
Interment will be at Ojitos Frios Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers James Tapia, James L. Tapia, Jonathan Tapia, Valentin Salas, Shane Smith, Fred Baca, Joseph Baca and Victor Baca. Honorary pallbearers will be all her remaining grandchildren and great grandchildren.
