Karen Marie Britt Foster was born September 15, 1940, in Portis, Kansas, to Ray and Marie (Gronewoller) Britt and passed away September 22, 2022, in Osborne, Kansas. Karen grew up in the Bloomington area and resided there a total of 76 years of her life. She attended the Bloomington School until she began her high school years at Osborne High School, where she graduated in 1958.
Karen attended Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kansas, to obtain her Secretarial Science diploma. Upon graduating she began working for Norton- Decatur Rural Electric Company. Throughout her life, she was employed at the Osborne County Treasurer Office, Midway CO-OP, SRS office, Wilkens Manufacturing and Parkview Manor.
On June 3rd, 1961, she was united in marriage to Raymond Foster. To this union, they had 4 children: Dennis, Michele, Debbie and Susan.
In 1964 Karen and Raymond moved to the family farm where they raised their children and enjoyed the many fruits of farming and giving back to the land. She was an avid lover of country life where she could enjoy the quietness of nature, flowers, and animals. Throughout life she always had many pets, including dogs, horses, a skunk and her last favorite pet, a miniature pony named Chester.
Karen dearly loved her family and attending any events that included her children, and then her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She captured all the family memories with thousands of pictures, which she lovingly created numerous individual albums for each of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Over the years, she handmade thousands of mints for weddings and anniversaries that were enjoyed by many. History was a passion for Karen, and she enjoyed researching, learning, and preserving the past, especially regarding family and the Bloomington area.
Karen is survived by her children, Dennis Foster of Wichita, KS, Michele (Tony)Watkins, Osborne, KS, Debbie (Rob) Conde, Park City, KS, and Susan (Brian) Quattlander, Ellisville, MO. Grand Children Chelsea (Tyler) Schultze, Jake (Lisa) Swisher, Connor (Dani) Foster, Samantha (Nathan) Miller, Savannah (Jason) Winkel, Kaleb Winkel, Tannor Foster, and Lathe Watkins; 8 Great Grandchildren, sister in laws Merna Foster and Sandy Hudson. and several nieces and nephews as well as other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Marie Britt, siblings Lois Rae Britt and Alvin Britt, cherished husband Raymond Foster, brother in laws, Jason Hudson, Clifford Hahn, Eugene Thornburg, Farrell Foster, and sister in laws Iris Hahn and Imogene Thornburg.
