Katina Marie Wakefield, 48, passed away early Wednesday morning on July 26, 2023.

In her final moments she was surrounded by loving family including her beloved children, daughter Kaja Wakefield, son Kyson Wakefield, husband of 26 years Jody Wakefield, her mother Cindi Moses and stepfather Woody, brother James Geist and his wife Jamie. She is also survived by her grandmothers Wilma Unrein and Marian Geist.

She is preceded in death by her father Jim Geist.

Katina was born to Jim and Cindi (Unrein) Geist on November 4, 1974 in WaKeeney, Kansas. She graduated from Hays High School and attended Fort Hays State University and Kansas State University.

She was a master gardener, taking great pride in photos of her flowers, as well as an accomplished violinist, playing most recently in the Kansas City Kansas Community Orchestra and Metropolitan Strings Academy. She shared this passion and love of music with her children Kaja and Kyson, who followed in her footsteps and excelled on the cello and drums, respectively. She enjoyed any opportunity to listen to live music, whether from her children, her friends, or favorite artists.

She expressed her love for animals by babying her puppy Cooper and displaying many of her favorite peacock decorations in her home.
