James Franklin Moore, 78, of Norton, KS passed away May 11, 2023 at the Kearney Regional Medical Center. He was born May 20, 1944 in Almena, KS to Merlin and Atrice (Brewster) Moore.

James grew up in Almena and was a 1962 graduate of Almena Rural High School.

He entered the United States Air Force at 19 years and served for 38 years. He wanted to see the world, so he put in for overseas duty. During those tours he enjoyed learning about the different cultures and people. Jim served in many locations around the world, from Texas and California to Japan and the Netherlands. He was also highly decorated, and he retired with honors and the rank of Master Sergeant (MSGT) on October 1, 1986 at the Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, WA.

Jim married Donna Rose Lagestee in Spokane.

He enjoyed doing research on Vietnam veterans and having coffee with his friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister Judy Harmon.

He is survived by his wife Donna of the home; son Michael James Biros (Moore) and wife Shellie Werich of Hollinger, NE; stepson Rick Schmidt of Idaho; stepdaughter Kimberly Schmidt of Idaho; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews Barbara Beard of Tainan, Taiwan, Loria Harmon of Hays, KS, Joe Harmon of Memphis, TN, Kellie Harmon of Lawrence, KS and Shelley Weilert of Lawrence, KS.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Almena.
