
Alice Ann Paul, age 89, of Hays, Kansas, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on March 21, 1935, in Denver, Colorado, to Herman and Alice Davis, Alice embraced her role as the oldest of five siblings, nurturing a deep bond with her family that lasted throughout her life. She attended Buckeye Elementary, Hays High School, and Fort Hays State University, where a beautiful journey began.
It was at FHSU where she met her lifelong love, Forrest "Frosty" Paul. They united in marriage on November 28, 1954, embarking on a 60-year adventure filled with love and joy until Frosty’s passing in April 2015. Their legacy lives on through their five beloved children along with an impressive clan of 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren, all of whom cherished the moments spent with her.
Alice was a woman of many talents, known for her remarkable sewing and baking skills, crafting wedding dresses for her daughters with love and attention. Her dedication to family and community was evident as she balanced various roles from running a daycare to working as a physical therapy aide at Graham County Hospital.
Summer days were often spent helping her daughter Tami and son-in-law Dale run their marina in Colorado, showcasing her commitment to family activities. Alice also had a hand in the operations of Morland grocery store, the town café, and The Unicorn Shop florist in Hill City.
Her successful venture with Avon brought her national Albee honors, and her open houses were gatherings filled with warmth, laughter, and delicious homemade treats.
After their youngest children left home Alice and Frosty opened “The Paul House Bed and Breakfast” in their hometown of Morland, KS. Their home flourished with hospitality, welcoming guests from around the globe and creating cherished moments through tea parties, banquets, and memorable meals.
In 2010, Alice and Frosty moved to Hays to be near family, where she found joy in the companionship of her beloved dog Thumper, who was born on the very day Frosty passed away.
Alice is lovingly remembered by her children, Steve and Julie Paul of Hays; Vickie and Gary Gano of Hays Mark and Elaine Paul of Concordia; Tami and Dale Casteel of Cape Coral, Florida; and Carey and Steve Lewis of Hays. She is also survived by her brother, Don Davis of Hays, alongside her cherished 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Brent Ryan Paul; twin great-granddaughters, Camille and Tamika Sanders; siblings, Betty Matheson, Sharon Klusener, and Harold Davis.
Alice Ann Paul will be remembered for her love, kindness, and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her.A private family memorial service was held at Keithley Funeral Homes-Brock’s Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.
Inurnment followed in Mt. Allen Cemetery, Hays with Pastor Gary Simon officiated.
A come and go public Celebration Gathering in honor of Alice will take place starting at 5:00 PM on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Precision Valley Golf Center, 1500 W. 27th Street, Hays, KS.
