Roger Hamilton Brent, formerly of Salina, KS, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 9, 2022, at Hawthorn Court of Ahwatukee in Phoenix, AZ, at the age of 81.
Roger was born on February 4, 1941, in St. Clair, MO to Vern and Esther (Hamilton) Brent. Roger was married to Theodora A. “Teddi” Boudrie for 41 years and together they raised two 2 children: Dana and Monte.
Roger grew up in Alton, KS and graduated from Alton High School in 1959. He attended Kansas State University, University of Iowa, and graduated from The Dallas Institute of Mortuary Sciences in 1964.
Roger dedicated his professional career to helping others through the loss of loved ones and his empathetic nature and compassion shined through daily. This dedication permitted him to purchase Geisendorf-Rush Smith Funeral Home in Salina, KS which he would retire from in 1997.
Roger was very active in the community throughout his life including being a member of the Christ Cathedral Episcopal Church in Salina, the Acacia Fraternity, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Salina Wildcat Club, Shriners, and the Kansas Funeral Directors Association.
Roger was a committed fan of Kansas State University and was a football season ticket holder for more than 40 years. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, attending their activities, and extended family get togethers.
Roger is survived by his children, Dana K. (Chris) Gillum of Mesquite, NV and Monte J. (Amy) Brent of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Wayne (Barbara) Brent of Ballwin, MO; and 5 grandchildren. Dana and Chris have three boys: Caulin, Corbin, and Connor. Monte and Amy have two daughters: Jaslyn and Jensen.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Esther Brent; and sister, Betty Lou Brent.
Roger was a good-hearted man who worked hard, enjoyed life, and cherished his family and friends. Although our hearts are weighing heavy, we can smile because he lived well and left us with many cherished memories that will fill our hearts and he will forever be remembered in love.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022, at 10:00 AM, at Episcopal Christ Cathedral Church in Salina, KS. Visitation will be on Monday before the service from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the Church Parish Hall. Burial will be held in Sumner Cemetery in Alton, KS at 2:00 PM.
