Charles V. 'Chuck' Giebler

Charles V. “Chuck” Giebler, 92, Hays, died Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Via Christi Village.

He was born April 11, 1930, in Hays, one of ten children of Martin and Susanna (Kisner) Giebler.  Chuck attended Catherine Grade School, St. Joseph Military Academy, and was a graduate of Hays High School with the class of 1948.  He was a Staff Sergeant and a flight mechanic in the U.S. Air Force.  On May 16, 1953, he was united in marriage to Rose Ann Befort in Hays, and they celebrated nearly 66 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on March 5, 2019.  With his wife, he owned and operated Centennial Carpets and Putt-Putt Golf.  Chuck was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church and the American Legion.  He was an avid sports fan, always listening to TMP-M Monarchs, Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas City Royals games.  He enjoyed Putt-Putt golf, playing cards, polka dancing, tending to his beautiful yard, and fishing with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his two sons, Charles Giebler and wife Carla of Hays and Kevin Giebler and wife Sue Ann of Dallas, TX, daughter, Wanda Rohr and husband Mike of Hays, five grandchildren, Christa Beiker and husband Josh, Jason Dreiling and wife Christina, Curtis Giebler and wife Natasha, Alex Giebler, and Kate Giebler, six great grandchildren, Harper and Avery Dreiling, Taryn and Avryn Beiker, Lucas Burton, and Blake Shelton, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rose Ann, four brothers, and five sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church with Fr. Damian Richards officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors by the Hays VFW Honor Guard.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on Monday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Tuesday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  A vigil service and rosary will be at 6:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
