Ronny Dee Stockman, 65, passed away July 8, 2022, in Hays, KS. Ron was born April 1, 1957 in Garrett, Indiana to JV and Nadine Stockman. Ronny was raised in Goodland Kansas and graduated from Goodland High School, Class of 1975. While in school, Ron competed in wrestling and football. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United Stated Navy where he completed various schools and was assigned to the USS Nimitz. He spent six years enlisted in the navy and saw many different countries. He ended his career with the Navy at NAS Whidbey Island, WA.
While in the navy Ron met the love of his life Marie Ida Griest. They were married in Jacksonville, Florida, September 8, 1977. After Ron was honorably discharged from the Navy in September 1981, he enrolled in airframe and power plant school to pursue his interest in mechanics and aviation. Upon receiving his FAA certification as a mechanic, he worked in the industry refurbishing airliners as an airframe and power plant mechanic. He later worked at Watson Pharmaceutical in shipping.
When Marie retired from the banking industry, they wanted to leave the rat race of California and find a small acreage where they could enjoy their life together and found their dream in a farm in Scottsville, Kansas.
Ronny was artistic, played the piano, had a passion for motorcycles and enjoyed woodworking. He loved taking his dog Molly for rides on his four-wheeler. He was generous with many and loved the Lord, his church and the community of Scottsville. He also felt a calling and enjoyed his ministry to the nursing home.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marie, his parents Jerry and Nadine Stockman, his sister-in-law, Nancy Griest. He is survived by his brothers Dan Stockman of Scott City, Kansas and Tim Stockman (Adele) of Dalhart, Texas, mother-in-law Mona Griest, sisters-in-law Deborah Griest, Beverly Barrows, Pat Cassel; brothers-in-law Andy, Robert and Dewayne, numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 10 AM Friday, July 22, at the Roberts Family Funeral Home followed by burial in Scottsville Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Scottsville Community Church.
