Roma Sessin, age 90, of Ellis, Kansas, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, at HaysMed, She was born on June 9, 1934, on the family homestead in Rural Ellis County, she was the daughter of Ernest J. and Margaret (Schaus) King. Her life was filled with warmth, laughter, and a spirit that touched everyone around her.
Roma graduated from Ellis High School in 1951 and on May 10, 1953, Roma joined her life with that of Guy Wayne Sessin, in a loving marriage that lasted until his passing on August 8, 1998. Together, they created a family and a home filled with love.
Roma's career saw her working at the State Capital in Topeka as a Status Clerk in the House of Representatives at Kansas Legislature from 1982 - 2004. She dedicated herself to her work, showcasing her remarkable skills and integrity. Beyond her professional life, she found joy in the simple pleasures - reading books, completing word search puzzles, and winning at bingo. She cherished traveling and had a special fondness for root beer floats, a treat that brought a glimmer of joy to her days.
As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Roma embodied love and generosity. Her quick wit, sassy personality, and big heart brought laughter and warmth to all her family gatherings. She was a proud member of Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis and the Shepherd's Center of Topeka, where she made numerous friends in her community.
Roma is survived by her cherished granddaughters: Rachel Wynn and husband Tim from Leavenworth, Kansas, along with their children Zane and Scarlett; Melissa Mulvaney from Lansing, Kansas, and her children Lily, Olivia, Adrian, and Ayona; Sarah Sessin from Manhattan, Kansas, with her children Cedric, Naomi, and Evanna; and Nicolette Schmidt and husband Jacob of Lenexa, Kansas, who have a beautiful daughter, Sadie. She also leaves behind her dear brother, Milton King, and wife Connie of Ellis, as well as a nephew, Joey King, and Arrow Hess, along with great-nephew Maysin Hess.
Preceding her in death are her beloved husband, two sons Scott and Kirk Sessin, a brother Stanley Arthur King, and a nephew and niece, Ernie Ray King and Betsy Ann King.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Roma's life at the funeral services to be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis. For those unable to attend in person, the services will be streamed on Facebook. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or the Shepherd's Center of Topeka, reflecting Roma’s enduring spirit of giving and community.
