Maxine Leigh Salmans, 94, passed away December 30, 2022, at Hodgeman County Long Term Care Center, Jetmore.
She was born December 29, 1928, in Hodgeman County, the daughter of Malcolm John and Ida Mae Gasgill McKibbin.
A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker and a Fashion Two-Twenty Franchise Owner. She was a member of Hanston Baptist Church, member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary, Cub Scout leader, and enjoyed sewing and reading.
On September 11, 1945, she married Frank Junior Salmans at Dodge City; he preceded her in death on April 10, 2015.
Survivors include: two sons, Jay (Jeanne) Salmans, Montezuma, Lane (Lisa) Salmans, Gruver, Texas; son-in-law, Jim Byrum, Dodge City; two daugthers-in-law, Cetra Salmans, Hays, Danetta Salmans, Hanston; sister-in-law Joanne McKibbin, Jetmore; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, and fourteen great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: two sons, Terry Salmans, Marc Salmans; daughter, Janet Byrum; three brothers, Willard McKibbin, Raymond McKibbin, Malcolm McKibbin; three sisters, Vada Humphreys, Vera Shiew, Irene Newsom; and two great grandsons, Gunner Stedje and Jens Stedje.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Hanston Baptist Church, Hanston, with Pastor Doug Ellison presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2023, at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
