Connie Faye Breese

Connie Faye Breese, 68, of Quinter, Kansas, passed away on August 15, 2024, at Hays Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Connie was born November 8, 1955, in Logan, KS, the daughter of Walter and Georgine Schurz. She graduated from Logan High School, Logan, KS, in 1973. 

Connie married the love of her life, Dennis (DD) Breese, on August 10, 1973, in Logan, Kansas. DD and Connie just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary, a true testament to their love. Connie worked at Gove County Medical Center until her retirement, in December 2020, as the Medical Supply Manager.  

On top of being a loving wife and friend, Connie was a proud mother and grandmother. She especially loved spending time with her family and chasing her grandchildren to all their activities. Connie also loved baking and was famous for her butter-horn rolls, bierocks, and homemade noodles. Golfing was one of Connie and DD’s favorite things to do together and they enjoyed traveling across the US to play new golf courses. During this time, she even recorded 2 hole-in-ones, compared to DD’s zero! She was a member of the Big Creek Golf Course Ladies Golf Association.

Remaining to cherish Connie’s memory are her husband, DD, of the home; son, Quentin (Krystal) Breese, of Concordia, KS; grandchildren, Payton and Tessa, of Concordia, KS; brothers, Rick (Rhonda) Schurz, of Olathe, KS, and Bob (Sheila) Schurz, of Basehor, KS; sister, Dena (Kenny) Vehige, of Hays, KS; brother-in-law, Rick (Cheryl) Finnesy; sisters-in-law, Linda (Hank) Schurz and Joan (Shannon) Russo; as well as several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Preceding Connie in death are her parents, Walt and Georgine Schurz; brothers, Fred, David, Hank, and Shannon Schurz; and sisters, Myra Schurz, Cheryl Finnesy, and infant sister, Marie.

A visitation service will be held on Sunday, August 25, from 5-7pm at Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 North 12th St., WaKeeney, KS 67672.

Her memorial service will be held on Monday, August 26, beginning at 10:30am at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, with inurnment to follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery. Pastor Roger Cooper will be officiating.
