John Wayne King, 60, passed away on November 8, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. He was born on June 6, 1962, in Chanute, Kan., to Wayne and Bobbie (Chard) King. John married Tammy Noblitt, having one son from the union; they later divorced. He then married Cynthia Ferguson, who brought him two bonus daughters and two more children; they later divorced.
A lifelong Great Bend resident, John took the welding skills he learned from his grandpa and spent his life as a welder and rig hand in the oil field. Along with welding, he was a jack of all trades and loved working on cars. John was a lover of dogs, frequently volunteering at the Golden Belt Humane Society, and loved helping people.
Survivors include his mother, Bobbie King of Great Bend; two sons, Jeremy (Jacque) King of Great Bend and Jacob King of Salina; two daughters, Justina Yott of Hoisington and Joni Margheim (fiancé Jason Smith) of Salina; a brother, Eddie (Denise) King of Great Bend; two sisters, Wendy (Tony) Ernst of Overland Park and BJ (Darren) Stanley of Great Bend; fourteen biological grandchildren; companion, Susan Hughes; her sons, Justice Hughes and Christian Hernandez; and five grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father and a daughter, Jenna King.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home with Jim Welch presiding.
Memorials have been designated to the John King Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
