Lucy Frances Stephens, age 72, of Hays, Kansas, died Monday, July 4, 2022, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.
She was born March 2, 1950, in Tribune, Kansas, to Arthur Max and Beatrice Euangline (Gale) Stephens.
She grew up and attended school in Syracuse. She lived in Larned and in 1997 Lucy began receiving supports from DSNWK in Colby, before moving to continuing services in Hays in 2000. In 2007, Lucy received a Personal Achievement Award for her
progress in independence that she gained throughout the years at DSNWK. She moved into the ladies home “Esther’s Place” in 2011, where she continued to live with her DSNWK family. In 2014, Lucy got a new guardian and she Lucy enjoyed going to Gretchen's (guardian and friend) her house, making her trips to Wal-Mart, going out to eat, socializing with her friends at the Reed Center, traveling with her roommates and cruising garage sales. Lucy's also had a great fondness for finding and trying new recipes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her DSNWK family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 8, 2022, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601 with Rev. Troy Miller officiating. Inurnment will be in Mount Allen Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.
Receiving friends will be from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Friday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays and memorials are suggest to DSNWK .
