Everett L. Schran, age 88, of Gorham, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at his home.

He was born on September 5, 1934, in Walker, Kansas, to Edward and Caroline (Hammerschmidt) Schrant. He married Alice Marie (Jacobs) on September 11, 1958, at Gorham, Kansas.

He was a farmer, raising crops and cattle. He grew up in Walker, attended the Walker Grade School, and was a 1952 graduate of the Gorham High School. Everett was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Gorham, and member of the Gorham Knights of Columbus Council #2744. He served on the Gorham CO-OP Board, and the Big Creek Township Board.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Marie, of the home; his daughters, Annette Smith and husband, Jim, McPherson, KS; Michelle Geist and husband, Bill, Victoria, KS; his grandchildren, Alison Brunsell (Scott); Janelle Krivin (Chad); Lyle Smith (fiancé, Rachel Porter); Rachelle Orr (Matt); Nathan Geist (Ashley); his great grandchildren, Ava, Ayla, Conner, August, Emmi, Lillie, Kennedy, and Kinsley; his brother, Vernon Schrant, Anthony, KS; his sister, Fran Schroeder and husband, Bud, Prescott, AZ; his brother-in-law, Tom Irvine, Manhattan, KS; his sister-in-law, Bernita Schrant, Victoria, KS.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Caroline; his brother, Norman Schrant; and his sister, Regina Irvine.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 17, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Gorham with Father Michael Elan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gorham.

A Gorham Knights of Columbus rosary with the Gorham Daughters of Isabella joining will be at 6:30 P.M. Thursday, and a vigil service will be at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, both at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Gorham.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Friday, all at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Gorham.

The family suggests memorials made payable to: the Gorham Senior Center or St. Mary’s Cemetery in care of the mortuary.
