Longtime Goodland, KS resident Ray Henry Lalicker, 86, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at the Goodland Regional Medical Center in Goodland.
Ray was born on December 2, 1936, in Garden City, Kansas, to Earl and Inez (Hunter) Lalicker. He was one of five children. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1954 where he enjoyed many friendships and participating in the marching, jazz, and concert bands. After high school he served in the Air Force as a flight simulator technician.
In June of 1957, Ray married Shirley Cass in Burwell, NE. To this union three sons were born; Ray D., Dewayne, and Monty. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years for Cass Construction in Burwell, NE. In 1970, they moved to Goodland, where he operated heavy equipment and later owned and operated his own land leveling business. Later, he married Janice (Smith) McClelland.
Ray enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing cards and he could often be found watching sports. He especially liked his Nebraska Huskers, Kansas City Chiefs, and KU Basketball. He loved spending time with his family including his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Jan, two sisters Della Stover and Eunice (Pete) Whitman, one brother Forrest Burgett, stepchildren Jimmie McClelland and Tammy Barnes, and one granddaughter Jenny McClelland.
He is survived by his brother Jerry (Donnie) Lalicker of Garden City, KS; his sons Ray D. (Jamie) Lalicker and Dewayne (Lori) Lalicker both of Goodland, KS and Monty (Casey) Lalicker of Aurora, CO; a stepdaughter Rhonda (Dale) Skrdlant of Alliance, NE; a niece Cindy (Keith) Bowman of Goodland, KS. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Eric (Destiny) Lalicker of Ashland, KS, Doug (Heather) Lalicker of Graham, WA, Trista (Mike) Zimmerman of Goodland, KS, Brett (Ann) Lalicker of Phoenix, AZ, Ryan Lalicker of Hays, KS, Matthew Lalicker of Goodland, KS, Christina (Sean) Hodelin of Denver, CO, Jeff Lalicker of Denver, CO, Jeremy Skrdlant of Goodland, KS and Tyler McClelland of Goodland, KS, as well as 10 great-grandchildren and numerous other nieces and nephews.
