Walter Raymond Biggs

Walter Raymond Biggs, 84, of McDonald, Kan., died Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at Citizens Medical Center, in Colby. He was born on the family farm in Rawlins County, to Milton and Eva (Eicher) Biggs on March 22, 1939.

Walter served in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1961. Upon his return from the service, he lived in Colby. Walter was united in marriage to Bonnie Christiansen on Feb. 23, 1962. They moved to Colorado, then Sharon Springs, Kan., before moving to the farm near McDonald in July of 1962 and eventually building a new house in 1979.

Walter spent his years farming and ranching in Rawlins County. He was a big supporter of 4-H and enjoyed helping the children and attending the county fairs. He donated all the lemonade for the 4-H snack stand at the Thomas County Fair for many years.

Walter loved working on his antique tractors. He would take them to Colby for the fair parade each year and also entered them in tractor shows. He also enjoyed watching and collecting John Wayne movies.

Walter is survived by his wife Bonnie and son Monty. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and five sisters.
