Kenneth Wayne Kuntzsch, Sr., 77, of Russell, Kansas, died on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Kenneth was born on March 19, 1946, in Russell, Kansas, the son of William H. and Margaret F. Reddig.  He grew up in the Russell and Bunker Hill, Kansas, areas and attended local schools. 

He met, fell in love, and was united in marriage to Linda Marie Dicus on February6, 1967, in Russell, Kansas.  From this union they were blessed with four sons, James, Kevin, Lyndall and Kenneth. 

He worked as an oilfield worker for Red Tiger Trucking, Mai Excavating and Mai Oil Operations. 

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, word search puzzles and was an enthusiastic member of the NRA.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his large family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Surviving family include his wife Linda of the home, sons James Kuntzsch of Russell, Kansas, Kevin Kuntzsch of Ottawa, Kansas, Lyndall Kuntzsch and wife Debbie of Julesburg, Colorado and Kenneth Kuntzsch, Jr. and wife Kim of Russell, Kansas; brothers Dennis Kuntzsch and wife Cheryl of Palco, Kansas and James Kuntzsch and wife Joyce of Dorrance, Kansas; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Billy and John Kuntzsch and sisters Norma Acheson, Peggy Heckens, Nancy Hupfer and Patsy Edsel.

A celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas.  Burial will follow at the Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill, Kansas.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the mortuary with family greeting guests from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday evening.
