James Eugene “Jim” Rogers, 77, was born in Reno, Nevada on September 8,
1944 to H.E. Rogers and Anogene (Mumm) Rogers. He departed this life on
May 30, 2022 in North Platte, NE after a hard fought battle with cancer,
he had his girls by his side.
He attended Rexford School District graduating in 1962. He then
attended training in Denver, CO for Automotive Training, he worked in
Oberlin for Reliance Motor Company, which he loved. He also owned his
own Mechanic Shop for a number of years, working with his brother for
the last part of his working years.
He was drafted into the United States Army in 1966, he served in the
Vietnam War as a helicopter gunner and a heavy wheeled mechanic with
the 161st Helicopter Assault Company. He was very proud of his service
and his Country. Receiving the Quilt of Valor in 2017.
He met and married Jeannine Brown in April of 1969, to this union 2 girls were born, later divorcing in 1980.
Over the years Jim spent his time raising cattle, which he loved,
restoring antique tractors and entering them into many parades with his
dad and brother, throughout the state. He was very proud of them and
loved showing them off and talking about them!
He served as the “family historian” he knew almost everything about
the family. If anyone had a question, he would be the one to ask! He
was very proud of his roots and where he came from.
Left to mourn his passing and honor his memory are his loving
daughters: Michelle (Todd) Gutschenritter, Shawna (Johnny) Naranjo;
sister: Eileen (Harold) Murphy; brother: Steve (Judy) Rogers;
grandchildren: Kendal, Jake, Levi and Regan; nephews: Chris Murphy, Dan
Rogers; niece: Kari Moore and their families. He also leaves behind
many aunts, uncles, cousins that were more like siblings. He had many
friends and care givers at the Sheridan County Long Term Care facility
that he was close to. He was treated very well there, and he enjoyed
being there!
