Elinor Ann Wiltfong, Norton

Elinor Ann Wiltfong, 83, of Norton passed away September 5, 2023 at the Andbe Home. She was born June 26, 1940 on the family farm in Decatur County to Henry Matthew and Theresa Marguerita (Robben) Hickert.
Elinor attended grade school in New Almelo and graduated from Jennings High School in 1958. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Marymount College.
Elinor married Glen Wesley Wiltfong on June 19, 1965 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Almelo, KS.
She worked as a registered nurse for the Norton County Hospital, the state hospital and correctional facility and then retired from the Andbe Home.
Elinor was a member of the Monday Federated Study Club, St. Francis of Assisi Altar Society, Women’s Bridge Group, Booster Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, camping, and playing bridge and pitch, or any card game in general. Elinor especially loved following her kids and grandkids sports and school activities.
Elinor is survived by her husband, Glen of Norton; children Robert (Michelle) Wiltfong of Edmond, KS, Rodney (Linda) Wiltfong of Nolensville, TN, Robin (Scott) Sproul of Edmond, KS, and Ryan (Missy) Wiltfong of Shawnee, KS; nine grandchildren: William, Hayden, Judson, Gavin, Gentry, Greeley, Gatlin, Madeline, and Dexter; sisters Ida Mae Hoover of Lady Lake, FL and Elizabeth Richards of Rapid City, SD; sister-in-law Lila Hickert of Hutchinson, KS, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Marcellus (Virginia) Hickert, Emory (Mildred) Hickert, Norman (Wava) Hickert, Marie (Charley) Vavroch, and Gordon Hickert and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Hoover and Thaddius Richards.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Norton. Burial will follow in the Norton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. Friday, September 8 at the funeral home. A wake service and rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m.
