Marianne Werner, of Codell, Kansas passed away on August 11, 2024, at the Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas, at the age of 54. She was born on May 9, 1970, to David and Ann (Weis) Miller in Salina, Kansas.

Marianne grew up in Salina, Kansas. She attended Salina South High School, later receiving her GED. Marianne received her bachelor’s in education from Kansas Wesleyan University. She was a special education teacher at Plainville Elementary School for 27 years.

As a beloved wife and mother, Marianne loved to spend time with her family. Whether it was the annual family vacation to Disney World or talking with her husband about their plans for the future over a morning cup of coffee, she was always able to make the moments she spent with her family special.

In her spare time, Marianne was an avid horse rider and trainer. From a very young age, Marianne had shown a great love for animals of all kinds, but specifically horses. She greatly enjoyed spending time riding through the countryside near her home in Codell as well as traveling across the Midwest for horse shows with her daughter, Grace. She also enjoyed supporting her son Jed through his racing and aviation career.

Another passion that Marianne had was her love for her students. As a devoted educator for 27 years, Marianne spent her time as a special education teacher caring for countless children. For Marianne, it was not just a job, but a passion to help, guide and mentor her students. Marianne believed that every child had the potential to achieve greatness, and she worked tirelessly to help them realize it. Her goal was not just to teach academics, but to instill real life skills and realize their true potential.

Marianne is survived by her husband, Rusty Werner of Codell; son, Jed Werner of Wichita, KS; daughter, Grace (Jaron) Rathbun of Codell; mother, Ann Weis-Peck of Hutchinson, KS; father, David (Cindy) Miller of Ellsworth, KS; brother, Michael Miller of Hutchinson; half-siblings, Amanda Bosquez of Kannapolis, KS, Amelia Burbank of Salina, and Rhonda Sauer of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

She was preceded in death by her step-fathers, Tom Huggins and Carson Peck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Visitation will be on Friday at 6:00 PM with a Vigil and Rosary service at 7:00 PM at the church.
