Roque Florez Garcia passed away on October 1, 2022, in Stockton, Kansas, at the age of 70. He was born on August 16, 1952, in Larned, Kansas, to Modesto and Ventura (Florez) Garcia. He was married to Brenda (Hunter) Garcia on October 20, 1973, in Stockton, KS. They were blessed with two children: Cory and Donna.

Roque grew up in St. John, Kansas, and after high school he attained an Associate Degree from NCK Technical College in Beloit, KS. He worked many years in maintenance at Valley View Apartments and then the Rooks County Courthouse in Stockton, retiring two years ago. Roque took much pride in his duties at the courthouse and enjoyed working for all the people. He was a member of Stockton Lions Club.

Roque loved his family and spending time with his grandkids. He enjoyed Chiefs and KU Basketball games which he oftentimes attended with his good friends, Duane Harris and Dennis Bedore. He also loved music and playing the drums with his band, Rolling Thunder.

Roque is survived by his children, Cory and Donna Garcia of Stockton; siblings, Sally Devena of Buhler, KS, Ted (Sandy) Garcia of Wichita, Lupe (Gerry) Hudson of St. John, KS, Luis (Susan) Garcia of Hutchinson, KS, Margarita (Gayle) Kent of St. John, Mary Peschka of St. John, Jesse (Gladys) Garcia of St. John, and Nick (LaDona) Garcia of Silverlake, KS; and 4 grandchildren, Emil, Jake, Jo and Zeke.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Modesto and Ventura Garcia; brother, John Garcia; brother-in-law, Wayne Devena; and his wife, Brenda who he gets to celebrate their 49th Anniversary in heaven with.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 11 AM at the Stockton United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Stockton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home in Stockton.
