Mathilda "Tillie" Evelyn Lacy of WaKeeney, KS, born August 14, 1932, passed away on March 30, 2024, at the age of 91, at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas. She was born on August 14, 1932, in WaKeeney, Kansas, the daughter of John Haben and Herminnie Mathilda (Ptaschek) Schneider.
She married Christian Richard Lacy on April 24, 1949, in Wichita, Kansas where they raised their three daughters. Tillie worked at the Cessna plant where she retired as an upholstery seamstress. Retirement did not slow her down. She traveled throughout Europe, parasailed in Hawaii, and rode the Royal Gorge Rush Sky-Coaster in Colorado. She moved to WaKeeney where she worked in housekeeping at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital until she was 80 years old. Tillie was well known for her M&M memorabilia collection, her salt and pepper shaker collections, and a doll collection.
Tillie is survived by her daughters; Mathilda Sipult, Benton, Kansas, Vicki Jett, Sugar Creek, MO, and Tonya Lacy (Rob Schulte), Wichita; four grandchildren, Michelle Pannell, Shane Robertson, Jason Robertson, and Catrina Hinkle; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her three brothers, Jacob, Joseph, and Johnny Schneider; her sister, Blanche Butler; and her grandson, Richard Dane Pannell.
A funeral service will be held at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. followed by burial in the WaKeeney Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
