Darlene M. (Werth) Williams, age 85, of Hays, Kansas passed away on September 20, 2024, at Homestead of Hays, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on August 13, 1939, to Severin and Adeline (Befort) Werth in Schoenchen, Kansas, and led a life filled with love, laughter, and a passion for beauty.
Darlene made a significant mark in her community as a longtime beautician, owning her own salon, Darlene's Beauty Salon. She proudly operated her business first in Schoenchen, then Hays, and later in Kansas City. Her warm and welcoming demeanor along with her professional expertise made everyone feel welcome. Known for her lovely smile and caring nature, Darlene was a person who thrived on connection and joy, rarely wanting to spend time alone.
In addition to her career, Darlene had a variety of interests that enriched her life. She enjoyed cooking and was particularly proud of her time spent preparing meals for the Capuchin Friars while living in Hays. Darlene had a green thumb, with a passion for flower gardening and making beautiful floral arrangements that brightened many spaces. She also was a proud supporter of the American Legion in Olathe, Kansas.
Darlene's family was her greatest treasure. She is survived by her son, JD Rebel and wife Denise of Wichita, Kansas; her daughter, Penny Myers and husband Craig of Ness City, Kansas; stepsons, Todd Williams and wife Lea Anne, Brian Williams and Brad Williams all of the Kansas City area; her brother, Severin Werth Jr and Marjorie Dansel of Hays, Kansas; her sister, Sharon Unrein of Louisburg, Kansas; along with her adored grandchildren: Beau Rebel, Derek Rebel, Dustin Myers, Brady Myers, Nathan Myers, Adrea Garrison, Tyler Rebel, Macie Rebel Kidwell, and Olivia Rebel. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Brynn, Jaxson, Adeline, Emmalynn, Adler, Ada, Kinsley, Kasen, Crew, Emilia, and Ezra.
Darlene was preceded in death by her loving parents, her husband, a son, Troy Rebel, and her sister, Patty Coker. While she is deeply missed, her legacy of love, beauty, and community service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, September 23, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Schoenchen. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial visitation will be Sunday 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a combined rosary and parish vigil at 7:00 PM all at Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory-Brock's Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.
