Flora Mae Weigel, 90, passed away on April 17, 2023, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kan. She was born on July 17, 1932, in Walker, Kan., to Anselm “Lefty” Braun and Anna Marie Braun. On July 17, 1954, she married Robert Leo Weigel in Walker, Kan. He passed on March 9, 2001.
A longtime Great Bend resident, Flora was a dedicated homemaker. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima, Altar Society and helped with the Adoration Chapel. Flora Mae enjoyed spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors include two sons, Robert “Bob” (Doris) Weigel of Great Bend, Kan. and Brian Weigel of Salina, Kan.; two daughters, Pam Hitz and Michelle (Eric) Moore, both of Great Bend, Kan.; five grandchildren, Tyler (Brooke) Weigel, Jocelyn Weigel (Zac), Jessica Walters, Esten Moore and Braylon Moore; and two great-grandchildren, Oren Talukdar and Bobby Troughton. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Donald Braun; and two infant sisters, Darlene and Lorine Braun.
Visitation will take place from noon to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2023, with Altar Society rosary at 4:00 p.m., family receiving guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and vigil service at 7:00 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Interment will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery in Walker, Kan.
Memorials have been designated to the Holy Family Endowment Fund or the St. Anne’s Cemetery, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
