Delores Marie Panter, age 87, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023 surrounded by her family. Delores was born on February 23, 1936 to Charles and Bertha Babcock of Phillipsburg Kansas. She was raised in rural Phillips County and was one of eight children. After completing her education in Phillipsburg, Delores met and married Fred Panter on September 2, 1956. They made their home in rural Smith County, where they welcomed three children. Delores helped on their family farm and enjoyed catering, bus driving, and following her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities. Fred and Delores graciously opened their home to several other children over the years where they were treated just like their own, and made big impacts on their lives.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years Fred, son Dan (Terri) Panter of Houston, daughter Mona (Brad) Marler of Osborne, son Scott (Susan) Panter of Athol. Siblings Don Babcock, Beverly (Wendall) Jarvis, Mary (Butch) Miller and Terry (Carolyn) Babcock. Grandchildren Sean (Monessia) Sears, Becky (Bryon) Caro, Amanda (Bryan) Schultze, Austin (Maggie) Panter, Mathew Marler, Chelsey (Nick) Kammann, Courtney (Jordan) Hecker and Caley Panter, along with 10 great grandchildren and many other family and friends. Delores is preceded in death by her parents, brother Clayton, and sisters Katherine Hoover and Darlene Imm.
