Randall Drew 'Randy' Rome

Randall Drew “Randy” Rome, 32, died Tuesday, December 27, 2022, in Hays, Kansas. He was born March 9, 1990, in Garden City, Kansas.

Randy grew up in Garden City where he attended Garden City schools and graduated from Garden City High School in 2008. He then entered the United States Marine Corp where he served from August 26, 2008 to September 25, 2012. After the service he returned to Garden City for a short time before attending the University of Kansas. Randy then returned to Garden City where he worked as a service technician at Oil Alley. Randy had also been in school to work in cyber security. He enjoyed spending his time by volunteering for Pheasants Forever and for local veteran’s events. Randy also enjoyed flying drones, and the outdoors where he loved the lake life, boating, and fishing.

Survivors include his parents Sherri Rome (Randy Henry) of Syracuse, Kansas and Tim Rome (Irene) of Garden City; his partner Bri Schenk of Hays, Kansas; a brother Aaron Rome of Garden City, Kansas; and many aunts and uncles. Randy is preceded in death by his grandparents Pete & Patricia Rome and Levi & Lois Whaler; and several aunts and uncles.

A Vigil Service and Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, also at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City with Rev. Warren Stecklein as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the United States Marine Corp Honor Guard and the American Legion District #8 Honor Guard. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
