Josie Viola Nottleman, 84, passed away at her home in Lakin, Kansas on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. She was born August 17, 1939, in McAdoo, Texas.
Josie grew up in McAdoo, Texas, graduating from McAdoo High School. She was an outstanding athlete and received an offer from Texas Tech University to play basketball. She received her LPN license from Texas in 1974, then moved to Sioux City, Iowa and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in 1982. She later moved to southwest Kansas in 1988 where she worked as a Registered Nurse in numerous capacities for 29 years and set up the Home Health for Kearny County Hospital. She retired in 2017. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking and was actively involved in the quilt club. She loved attending all of her kid’s, grandkid's and great grandkid's ball games.Survivors include her Children- Kevin & Patty Hoover of Lakin, KS, Susan Stingley of Maricopa, AZ, Keith & Kim Hoover of Phoenix, AZ, LaMona George of Dighton, KS, Melvin Johnson II of Scott City, KS, and Laura McKissick of Scott City, KS. 19 Grandchildren & 39 Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Son-In-Law, Scott Stingley and Grandson, Derik Johnson.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 12:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin, Kansas. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 16, 2024, at New Life Church in Lakin, Kansas with Pastor Craig Adams officiating. Following the service, burial will be at the Lakin Cemetery. Family suggests memorials be given to Kearny County Hospital in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
