Teresa Karlin, age 79,  of Hays, Kansas, passed away at her home Sunday, April 9, 2023.  She was born September 30, 1943, in Hays, to Harold W. and Wauneta (Turner) Vine.  She married Norbert Karlin on May 30, 1961, in Hays.

She was an elementary teacher at Saint Joseph Grade School in Hays for four years and was a foster parent for over 50 years.  Teresa was a 1961 graduate of Ellis High School and a graduate of Fort Hays State College.  She taught English as a Second Language to adults and was a teacher of foster parenting classes.  She was a member of Celebration Community Church, Hays, Master Gardeners Club, and was very involved with 4-H Club while raising the kids. She enjoyed cooking, playing pinochle, and raising her chickens.  

She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. But most importantly, she had an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ that led her in everything she did.  

Survivors include her husband, Norbert, of the home; her children, Sandi Amrein and husband, Roy, Ellis, KS; Paula Staab and husband, Randy, Hays, KS; Galen  Karlin and wife, June, Hays, KS; David Karlin and wife Leslie, Hays, KS; Mary Kreutzer and husband, John Ellis, KS; Michael Karlin, Hays, KS; Cassie Edra and Mel Edra, Kalamazoo, MI; her grandchildren, Craig Amrein (Melissa); Clint Amrein (Katy); Cory Amrein (Nikki); Michael Staab (Han); Amanda Morris (Jon); Jacob Karlin (Corinne); Andrea Scheck (Cody); Madison Karlin; Cameron Karlin (Alexandria); Matthew Karlin; Joshua Kreutzer (Sharlene); 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild on the way; her brothers, Denis Vine and Mary Lou Kreutzer, Ellis, KS; Kevin Vine and wife, Patty, Ellis, KS; her sisters, Barbara Augustine and husband, Ken, Grove, OK; Shyrell Haas and husband, Jim.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Nancy Jane Karlin.

Funeral services are 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Celebration Community Church,  5790 230th Ave. Hays, Kansas with Pastor Brant Rice officiating.  Inurnment will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Thursday, at Celebration Community Church.
