Klass Friessen Wiebe, 55, died Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. He was born January 9, 1969, in Colonia Alvaro Obregon, Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Peter & Maria Friessen Wiebe.
Klass grew up in Mexico where he attended school. He lived in Bolivia from 1972 to 1988. On September 5, 1987, he married Katharina Schmidt Neufeld in Bolivia. They moved back to Mexico in 1988. In 2006, they moved to Copeland, Kansas, where they lived for a short time before moving to Scott City, Kansas in 2007. They have lived in Scott City since. A farmer, Klass loved to spend his time woodworking, having family Bar-B-Que’s, taking care of his pickup, and working hard for his family.
Survivors include his wife Katharina Wiebe of the home; five children Ana Wiebe of Cimarron, Kansas, Elizabeth Wiebe of Cimarron, Kansas, Maria Kroeker of Canada, Susana Goertzen of Scott City, Kansas, and Jimmy Wiebe of Colby, Kansas; three brothers Cornelius Wiebe, Peter Wiebe, & Abram Wiebe; six sisters Trudy Friessen, Elizabeth Peters, Katharina Neufeld, Susana Wieler, Ana Neufeld, & Neta Neufeld; and fourteen grandchildren. Klass is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Klass Wiebe and Jacob Wiebe; and three sisters Maria Peters, Helena Fast, & Margaret Friessen.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Reinlander Mennonite Church in Finney County. Burial will follow at the Reinlander Mennonite Cemetery.
