Alvin Louis Burk, 71, of Norton, KS passed away March 29, 2023, at his home. He was born February 10, 1952, in St. Louis, MO to Albert Louis and Antoinette (Cracchiola) Burk.

Alvin grew up in St. Louis, MO and Omaha, NE, where he graduated from high school in 1970. After high school, he joined the United States Navy and served for over 30 years. Alvin married Barbara Whitaker on March 24, 1984 in San Diego, CA. They moved to Denver, CO for a Navy recruiting job and then he retired in 1997 as a Petty Officer First Class. He went on to work for Subaru as a delivery driver until they moved to Norton in 2008. While in Norton, he worked as a janitor for the Northern Valley School District. Even though he was “retired,” he was always working hard, whether it was one of his jobs or one of his favorite pastimes, vegetable gardening. Every year he would sell vegetable plants. Alvin moved to this area because of his love for fishing.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; sons: Abraham Burk of Norton, KS, Lee (Cynthia) Burk of San Diego, CA, Steven (Amber) Burk of Brighton, CO, and Robert Burk of Cumberland, MD; daughter, Kendra Burk of Norton, KS and eight grandchildren.

The family has chosen cremation and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 4-6:00 pm Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the funeral home.
