SHAWNEE – Nelda Rae Pakkebier, 80, passed away June 30, 2023, in Shawnee.
She was born May 9, 1943, in Great Bend, the daughter of Malvin and Harriet Grandy Ford.
A lifetime resident of Pawnee and Rush counties. She was a teacher and then later a mail carrier, and she also helped her husband farm near Sanford. She was a member of the Rozel Methodist church and served on church committees at Rozel and La Crosse Methodist Churches; a member of EHU Extension Unit, Rozel, Colorful Calico’s, La Crosse, and was active in 4-H as a project leader. She enjoyed woodworking, painting, stained glass and stitchery.
On Aug. 6, 1966, she married Marvin Edward Pakkebier at Rozel. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2017.
Survivors include: two daughters, Pam (Ty) Welsh of Shawnee and Lea Pakkebier; seven grandchildren, Tyson, Trenton, Carly, Tanner, Ben, Rylie, Allie (Anthony); two brothers; four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Sarah Leslie presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Beckwith Mortuary. Burial will be in the Garfield Cemetery, Garfield.
