Harve Bernard Johnson, 84, died peacefully August 3, 2022, at Pleasant Hills, Hutchinson, with his devoted wife by his side. He was born November 25, 1937, in Great Bend, to Clarence Harve and Bernadine Gertrude (Ericks) Johnson.
Harve graduated from Great Bend High School in 1955, Sterling College in 1965, and received his masters degree from Wichita State University. After high school, he served in the United States Army Reserves for nine years. Harve then began teaching math, retiring from USD 308. He was a member of Modern Woodmen, Hutchinson Area Retired Teachers Association, a lifetime member of the National Education Association, Sterling-Lyons American Legion Auxiliary Post 128, and Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. Harve enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends in their Colorado cabin.
On January 19, 1957, he married Roberta Ann Foree, in Great Bend. They shared over 65 years of marriage.
Harve is survived by: his wife, Roberta of Hutchinson; sons, Harve B. Johnson, Jr. (Lori) of Lenexa and Michael S. Johnson (Cherie) of Huntington Beach, CA; sister, Nina Reed of Soldier, KS; sister-in-law, Jolene Johnson of Great Bend; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Clarence Johnson; and sister Patricia Evers.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Elliott Chapel, with the Reverend Michael Tomson-DeGreef officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor, KS. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2022, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
