Sara went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2024, in Garden City, Kansas. She was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on April 14, 1959, to Thomas Norval Fowler and Jacquelean McKenney Fowler. Sara moved with her family many times throughout her life. She lived in several states and countries growing up, including Lindsay, OK, Russell KS, Corpus Christi TX, Odessa TX, Buenos Aires Argentina, Houston TX, Singapore. Living in Buenos Aires Argentina she became fluent in Spanish. Sara graduated from Singapore American High School in May 1977. She attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with a BS in Business Marketing May 1981. While in college she was an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, she went on Semester at Sea, which took her around the world. After college she went to work for Cities Service Company, selling lubricants and fuels. She was the first female salesperson for the company.
On April 26, 1986, she married Charlie Robinson at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Then moved to Garden City, Kansas, living there for 38 years. Sara so enjoyed the community of Garden City. She worked for the Garden City Chamber of Commerce, Robinson Oil Company, served on the Western Kansas Community Foundation Board, a member of PEO Chapter FF, an active attendee of First United Methodist Church, including New Covenant Women’s Bible study.
Sara will be remembered for her faith, her courage, her strength, her love of learning and how she encouraged us all. Her laugh and smile were infectious to everyone she met. Being loved by Sara was a blessing, we are grateful for the impact that she made in our lives.
She is survived by husband Charlie Robinson (Garden City, KS); daughter Anna Smith, her husband Justin Smith (Dallas, TX); daughter Caroline Robinson, her fiancé Mark Gardner (Tulsa, OK); her mother Jacquelean Fowler (Tulsa, OK); her brother Thomas Fowler II, his wife Carrie Fowler (Houston, TX); cousin Susan Stephens, her husband Hugh Stephens (Houston, TX); three nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her father Thomas Fowler.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City with Rev. Jim Akins officiating. The service may also be viewed on the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
