Otto “Ott” Dinkel Jr., 85, of Victoria, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.

He was born Nov. 14, 1938, in Victoria, to Otto J. and Clementine (Hoffman) Dinkel. He married Carol Ann (Rome) on Sept. 1, 1962, in Victoria.

He was a bricklayer for over 40 years and worked for Dreiling Masonry and D & S Masonry. He retired in 2000. Ott grew up in Victoria and was a 1957 graduate of Victoria High School and served in the Kansas Army National Guard. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and attending his grandchildren’s activities.

Ott is survived by his wife, Carol Dinkel of 61 years, of the home; his children, Kurtis Dinkel and wife, Shanna, Victoria; Kimberly Cavanaugh and husband, Michael, Wentzville, Mo.; his grandchildren, Karly Ottley and husband, Samuel, Lee’s Summit, M0.; Brady Dinkel, Victoria; Ally Dinkel, Lawrence; Emma Dinkel, Victoria; his step-grandchildren, Heather Fletcher and husband, Aaron; Adam Cavanaugh; Mathew Cavanaugh and wife, Christina; Michael Cavanaugh Jr. and wife, Claudia; Samual Cavanaugh and wife, Lauren; Ryan Cavanaugh; his 11 step-great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Iris Miller and Mary Jo Rome; both of Victoria; his brother-in-law, Ken Gottschalk and wife, Diane, Hays, and several nieces and nephews.

Ott was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Clementine Dinkel; his sister, Jeanette Klaus and her husband, George; and his infant sister, Mary Ann Dinkel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, with Father Jim Moster OI.F.M. Cap. officiating. The burial will be in the Saint Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria.

A Vigil service and Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at The Basilica of St. Fidelis.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at The Basilica of St. Fidelis.
