
DOUGLAS COUNTY —Law enforcement have submitted a new charging affidavit to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office requesting charges be filed against Mark Gridley to increase the total to 8 victims, according to a statement from Lawrence Police.
All allegations made against Gridley thus far reportedly occurred at Prairie Park Elementary School over a two-day period from February 6th to February 7th. The victims range in age from six to eleven years old.
Since being notified of the first allegations on February 8th, the Lawrence Police Department has dedicated every available resource to investigate this case, to include the entire investigations division, all of the department's School Resource Officers, and numerous officers from the patrol division. Other local and federal law enforcement agencies and USD 497 have also assisted.
The experts at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Douglas County have been instrumental in this investigation with their expertise in not only interviewing children but also in providing the needed support services for the victims and their families. Police have also worked very closely each step of the way with Douglas County District Attorney Dakota Loomis and his staff.
