Mary Ann (Herber) Steinle passed away peacefully on January 19, 2023. She was born on June 23, 1942, to Lester and Sara Mae (Washburn) Herber in Hays, KS. She married Richard Steinle on February 2, 1963. They were blessed with two children: Brent and Tonya.
Mary Ann graduated from Dorrance High School and went on to study at Fort Hays University. She was a little bit farmer, a little bit rancher, and a little bit oilman. She had a large heart full of love for her family and her pets. She loved the peaceful life on the farm. However, she also possessed a great adventurous spirit and had done solo trips to perform volunteer service at an orphanage and to hike the Inca Trail in Peru, to visit the jungles of Costa Rica, to perform volunteer work at elephant sanctuaries in Asia, as well as to sightsee various European countries.
Mary Ann possessed a wondrous singing voice that elevated spirits at many church and memorial services. However, while performing chores on her farm, she would almost always have good old blues blasting from her phone speaker.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband Richard of Dorrance/Russell; her children, Brent Steinle (Tiffany) of Ankeny, IA and Tonya Buehler (Ken) of Dorrance; and four grandchildren, Kari Eidenmueller (Andy), Adam Buehler, Sydney Steinle, and Austin Steinle.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Sara Mae Herber; her brother, Richard Herber; and beloved nephew Rick Herber.
Per her specific wishes, there will be no memorial service at this time. The family will be holding a celebration of her life at a later date.
Memorials can be given in Mary Ann's name to First Lutheran Church Air Conditioning Fund, Box 24, Dorrance, Kansas 67634.
