Rachel Ilene Favinger, 87 of Smith Center, KS passed away Saturday
August 20, 2022, in Smith Center, KS. Rachel was born November 27, 1934, in Smith Center to Henry and Daisy Tuxhorn. Rachel was married to
Leonard Favinger for 62 years. Rachel was a born seamstress, she took
this on as a career from 1969 to 2000 at Peterson Industry. When she
retired, you could still find her with some sort of sewing project. She
enjoyed crochet doilies, embroidering tea towels for all her children
and grandchildren, quilting, custom projects her family would come up
with and she was the seamstress for Newborns in Need in Springfield, MO.
Rachel is preceded in death by husband Leonard Favinger, siblings;
Roma Fristoe, Jenny Weaver, Leo Tuxhorn, Walden Tuxhorn, Delmer Lee
Tuxhorn, Lyold Favinger, Dean Favinger, and Dean Weaver, Parents; Henry
and Daisy Tuxhorn, In Laws; Sylvester and Inze (Kelling) Favigner.
She is survived by her children June and (Dennis) McElderry of
Springfield, MO, Donna Favinger of Smith Center, Mitch (Yvon) Favinger
of Smith Center, Jeri Duntz of Wichita, Mike and (DeeAnn) Favinger of
Wichita, Grandchildren Shay McElderry of Springfield, MO., Shannon
Favinger of Smith Center, Collin (Jessica) Duntz of Wichita, Josh
Huggins of Salina, Jeremy Huggins of Jacksonville, FL, Stephen (Kellie)
Griffee of Hanover, Grant (Alysha) Griffee of Home, KS, Great
Grandchildren Danica Favinger, Jaxen Duntz, Lucas Duntz, Braddeck
Griffee, Jaden Griffee, Laken Griffee, Ryker Griffee, Creed Griffee and
many nieces and nephews.
The family has chosen a private burial. In lieu of flowers the
family requests memorial contributions be given to Smith Center Health
and Rehab and can be sent in care of the mortuary.
