Darlene M. Rucker, 90, passed away June 23, 2024 at Country Living of Larned.
She was born December 10, 1933 in Dodge City, the daughter of Carl William and Elsie M. Dovel Danford.
A lifetime area resident she was a bank teller at Burdett State Bank and owner and bookkeeper at Rucker Brothers Flying Service. She was a member of Valley Community Church (formerly Burdett United Methodist Church), Kansas Agricultural Aviation Association (KAAA), Women of KAAA, Burdett American Legion Auxiliary, and Burdett Seniors. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, games and puzzles, playing the organ, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
On January 24, 1954 she married Billy B. Rucker at Burdett; he preceded her in death on January 4, 2001.
Survivors include: son, Cary (Jayne) Rucker, Burdett; daughter, Myra (Tom) Conti, Reno, Nevada; four grandchildren, Jessica (Steve) Lumetta, Prairie Village, Kansas, Trisha (Mike) Buchli, Lincoln, Nebraska, Eryn Conti, Kalispell, Montana, Lisa (Ben) Phillipps, Curtin, Australia; six great grandchildren, Piper, Penelope, Sophie, Caprice, William, and Dashiell.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; half-sister, Dorothy Andree; half-brother Gale Danford.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2024 at Valley Community Church, Burdett, with Pastor David Spare presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with family present 7-8 p.m. Burial will be in Brown’s Grove Cemetery, Burdett.
