Lloyd Henry Gemaehlich “Shorts” was born December 20, 1931, in Akron, Colorado, to William and Mary (Grauerholz) Gemaehlich. He passed away on May 30, 2022, at the age of 90 at Smith County Memorial Hospital.
He
was confirmed at St John’s Lutheran Church on March 25, 1945. Lloyd
attended and graduated from Kensington High School in 1949. He enlisted
in the U.S. Army in April 1952 and served during the Korean War in
Alaska until discharge in 1954. Lloyd was united in marriage to
Margaret J Malik on August 4, 1957. He worked at the grain elevator in
Scott City for many years. While living in Hays worked at the DMV until
he retired and they relocated to Estes Park, where he was employed part
time at the YMCA.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret J, sisters Leona
(Reinhardt) Kuhlmann, Clara (Vernon) Beckmann, brothers LeRoy (Margaret
C) and Kenneth Gemaehlich.
Survivors are son Donald Gemaehlich of Chandler, AZ and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
