Carl Eugene Maddy, 88, passed away on December 31, 2022, at Chisholm Place Assisted Living in Wichita, Kansas. He was born August 7th, 1934, at Wellington, Kansas, to Robert and Vera (Sneathen) Maddy. He married Delores Bauer on August 28th, 1955, at the United Methodist Church, in Dighton, Kansas.
Carl’s family moved to Riverside California in 1942, where he graduated from Riverside Poly Tech High School in 1952. He came to Great Bend, Kansas, in 1953, where he began working in the electrical wholesale business for 35 years. After that, he was employed by Barton County Community College for 11 years before retiring. Carl also served 24 years in the National Guard and was on the Auxiliary Fire Department of Great Bend for 40 years. He loved to fish and go camping with his family. He was a member of Countryside Baptist Church
Survivors include children Steven Maddy and wife, Clarissa, Terri Kennard, Michael Maddy; brother David Maddy and wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Megan Kennard and husband, Ricky, TJ Kennard, Shannon Maddy, Shelbe Maddy, Samantha Roche and husband, Matt, Taryn Mitchell and husband, Jack, Gannon Radenberg and finaceé, Brooke, Stephen Gallentine, Brooke Gallentine; great-grandchildren, Emersyn Lynn Mitchell and Violet May Roche. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter, Lynette Gallentine; brother, Bobby Maddy; and sister, Norma Smith.
A graveside celebration of life will be held for both Carl and Dolores at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Golden Belt Memorial Park.
Memorials have been designated to Good Shepherd Hospice of Wichita, Kansas, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
