Thomas 'Tom' Andrew Fabin

Thomas "Tom" Andrew Fabin was born August 28, 1958, in Phillipsburg, KS, the son of Marion & Bernadette (Martin) Fabin.  He passed away on January 5, 2023, at Kearney Regional Hospital in Kearney, NE at the age of 64.

Tom attended school in Phillipsburg & graduated with the Class of 1977.

On May 6, 1978, he was united in marriage to Peggy McDermed.  To this union 2 children were born, Kimberly & Michael.

Tom worked many jobs through the years:  Boogaarts Supermarket as a sacker & meat cutter, Tamko Roofing, a mechanic & truck driver for James Inc. & Koch Truckline but the most rewarding was the last 15 years he worked as a custodian for USD 325, first in the high school, then the middle school & ending at the elementary school when his health began to fail due to his lung complications.  Tom enjoyed the kids & watching them grow, especially the ones that came to his home when they were kids at Peg’s Daycare.

He could be a man of few words or he could talk your leg off. Tom had a love for history, music, motorcycles & trucks.  His top love was being with family, whether it be his kids, grandkids, daughter-in-law & immediate family.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Beverly Wiehl & his in-laws, Frank & Nancy McDermed.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years Peggy; his daughter, Kimberly Bui of Phillipsburg; son Michael & wife Tasha of Hays; 6 grandchildren: Thomas, Michaela & Jeremiah Bui of Phillipsburg, Blake,  Breckin & Baylor Fabin of Hays; sisters-in-law, Marla & Kandi McDermed, Connie (Melvin) Capps & Kelli (Jack) Brandon all of Phillipsburg; brother-in-law Bryce Wiehl of Smith Center; nephews: John Wiehl of Cleveland, OH & Joe (Dr. Leah) Wiehl of Smith Center; nieces: Jessica (David) Campbell, Rachel (Kyle) Barnes, Emily Brandon all of Phillipsburg & Jacque (Guy) Runyon of Kirwin.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 2:00 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating. The service will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 Sunday & 9:00 to 9:00 Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Phillipsburg Library or the Phillips County Hospital Lab & X-ray departments.
